A lock on the server does not stop a capture on the glass. Locksee can block screenshots on a sensitive thread.
The leak is rarely a hacker. It is a screenshot in a family group. A cropped chat forwarded to “just one person”. A photo of a fight that outlives the fight.
Why encryption does not stop this
End-to-end encryption protects the path. Once the message is on a screen, the path is over. WhatsApp and similar apps can warn you, or do nothing. The culture of capture is already there.
You cannot legislate trust. You can make capture harder on the threads that asked for it.

Screenshot protection can block captures on a sensitive chat. You can also switch screenshot permission off for one person in per-chat privacy. The other person still has the conversation. They just do not get an easy export.
No messenger can stop every camera pointed at a screen. The goal is to close the casual path — the one that happens in two taps.

Lock the chat. Let messages disappear. Hide the photo. If the talk should stay in the room, use more than one lock. That is the point of a privacy-first messenger: stacked controls, not one slogan.
