A QR messenger fails if the code can be passed on in secret. Locksee tells you, and lets you kill the code after N scans.
If identity is a QR, the QR is the house key. The worst version of that product is a key someone photocopies and hands around a group you never joined.
The invite-link problem, in a new shape
WhatsApp invite links and forwarded numbers have the same shape: you trusted one person, the room grew without you. You find out when strangers message, or when a screenshot of the group list shows up.
A silent QR forward is that problem with better lighting. The scan looks the same. You were never asked.
QR share alert
On Locksee, sharing your QR is not silent. If someone tries to pass it on, you get an alert. That is the feature that keeps Locksee from becoming a leaked invite list.
QR scan limit
You can also cap how many times a code can be scanned. After that, it dies. Refresh it when you want a clean door — a conference, a week of travel, one introduction.
